Hadaka Matsuriはだか祭
Hadaka Matsuri is an integral component of the Naoi Tsuigi Shinji, also known as the Ceremony of Exorcising Malevolent Spirits. Within the Naoi Tsuigi Shinji ritual, a central figure known as the 'Naoe' man is selected. It is believed that by coming into contact with the 'Naoe' man, participants can ward off misfortune. This is achieved by transferring their misfortunes onto the 'Naoe' man, after which all the accumulated ill luck is symbolically transferred into a large, charcoal-colored mochi.
The black mochi is created using rice mixed with the ashes of Omamori, Japanese amulets, burned during the previous year. The term 'Hadaka' in Japanese translates to 'naked,' and during this ritual, participating men are nearly bare, adorned solely in fundoshi (traditional Japanese undergarments) and tabi (traditional Japanese socks).
