Jantokoi Uozu Festivalじゃんとこい魚津まつり

The Uozu festival is an annual event that takes place during the first week of August, featuring a variety of exciting activities happening throughout the town from Friday to Sunday. The Suwa Shrine is the main stage for the festival, with one of its main highlights being the Tatemon Festival. The festival features giant floats, each equipped with over 90 lanterns arranged in a triangular sail shape and a picture displayed on a large pillar that stands at around 16 meters tall. The Tatemon floats are placed on a 10-meter base, and are pulled and paraded by around 80 people, weighing a total of five tons each. Seven such floats are sent out during the festival. The second day of the festival features the Marine Fireworks Display, where fireworks are launched from ships out in sea. The festival is accompanied by traditional music and the Serikomi Choroku Dance.
