Seki Aji and Seki Saba Festival関あじ・関さばまつり

The Seki Aji and Seki Saba Festival is a celebrated event in Oita Prefecture, located on the island of Kyushu, Japan. This festival pays homage to two of the region's most prized delicacies: Seki Aji and Seki Saba, which are horse mackerel and mackerel respectively, known for their exceptional quality and taste. These fish are caught in the nearby waters and are highly esteemed throughout Japan for their superior flavor, texture, and freshness.

The festival typically takes place in the picturesque coastal areas of Oita, where the local fishing community and visitors gather to celebrate the bounty of the sea. The event is not only a feast for the palate but also a vibrant showcase of local culture, tradition, and the community's deep connection to the ocean.

Don't miss the opportunity to try fresh Seki Aji, mackerel, and yellowtail rice bowls served with soup and Seki Aji Seki mackerel sashimi (limited to 500 servings). Meal tickets will be sold starting at 9:00. In addition to live fish such as Seki horse mackerel, Seki mackerel, and yellowtail, as well as seasonal seafood, there will also be sales of local specialties such as mandarin, oranges and vegetables. Lotteries and rice cake-making will also be held.
