Awa Odori Kaikan阿波おどり会館
The Awa Odori Hall is dedicated to preserving the spirit of the Awa Odori Festival and providing year-round opportunities to experience it. Founded in July 1999 at the base of Mt. Bizan, the Hall offers a dynamic performance of the Awa Odori dance during the day and evening. The museum also provides a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Awa Odori. For those eager to actively participate, the Media Square hosts workshops and events for all levels of interest.
Highlights
Awa Odori Performance Hall
The Awa Odori Hall, accommodating 250 guests, is exclusively dedicated to Awa Odori performances. Throughout the day, the talented team of Awa Odori dancers take the stage to showcase their skills in four performances. Each evening, one of the city's 33 renowned Awa Odori teams takes the stage, with a new team appearing daily. A performance fee is required for all shows at the Awa Odori Hall. Please note that the last show of the evening, has a slightly higher fee than the other performances.
Awa Odori Museum
The museum within the Awa Odori Hall delves into the history and cultural significance of Awa Odori. Visitors can view a diverse collection of costumes, props, and instruments, as well as witness the evolution of Awa Odori over time. A detailed miniature model depicts the Awa Odori festival in a previous era, and the "Awa Odori 3D Theater" offers a stunning 3D performance of the dance. Please note that admission to the museum is separate from the performance fee.
Media Square
In addition to the performances and museum, the Awa Odori Hall also provides a venue for various workshops and events related to Awa Odori. These opportunities allow visitors to actively engage with the festival and learn more about its traditions and techniques.
Bizan Ropeway Sanroku Station
Visitors can take a scenic 6-minute ride on the ropeway from the Awa Odori Hall to the summit of Mt. Bizan. On a clear day, the stunning views from the top include the Yoshinogawa River, O-Naruto Bridge, Awaji Island, and the Kii Peninsula.
