Yakushi-ji薬師寺
Yakushi-ji is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Nara, Japan. Founded in the 7th century, it was one of the powerful Seven Great Temples of Nara and served as a center for Buddhist teachings and practices. The temple features a main hall, a pagoda, and several smaller buildings and is known for its exquisite architecture and delicate sculptures. Yakushi-ji was built in the Chinese style, reflecting the strong cultural and religious ties between Japan and China during the Nara period. The temple suffered damage from fires and earthquakes over the centuries but has been restored and renovated several times, preserving its rich history and cultural significance. Yakushi-ji was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 as part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara."
