Gyokusen'inmaru Garden玉泉院丸庭園

The Gyokusen'inmaru Garden was a landscaped garden located within Kanazawa Castle, constructed in 1634 by Toshitsune Maeda, the third lord of the Kaga Domain. It was intended primarily as a courtyard for the domain lord rather than for entertaining guests. It is considered a unique garden, being the first to use creatively patterned stone walls such as the Shikishi Tanzaku-Zumi Stone Wall, along with a waterfall. The garden was abandoned during the Meiji Era but reconstruction work began in May 2013 to preserve the remains. The garden was built on new soil-filled ground and completed in March 2015.
