Matsumoto Castle松本城

Matsumoto Castle, also known as Fukashi Castle, is a historical castle located in the city of Matsumoto. The castle's origins date back to the Sengoku period, when it was built by the Ogasawara clan as a minor border post. Later, it was seized by the Takeda clan in 1550 and served as their field headquarters for the conquest of the Matsumoto Basin. The castle was later surrendered to Oda Nagamasu and then reassigned to Kiso Yoshimasa. After the assassination of Oda Nobunaga in 1582, it was seized by Ogasawara Dosetsuzai and renamed "Matsumoto Castle." The castle was completed by 1593-94 under the rule of Ishikawa Kazumasa and his son Yasunaga. During the Edo period, it was established as the Matsumoto Domain and ruled by different clans until the Meiji restoration in 1868. Today, it is located in the Matsumoto Castle Stephen Abragan Park.
