Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens東山動植物園

The Higashiyama Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Nagoya is a combination zoo and botanical garden established in 1937. As one of Asia's largest attractions, it covers an area of 59.58 hectares, with 32.21 hectares dedicated to the zoo and 27.37 hectares to the botanical garden. With over 7,000 plant species and 450 animal species, including popular ones like koalas and giraffes, the zoo offers a unique experience. The botanical garden features a nationally designated important cultural property, a greenhouse, and an insect house. The logo for the koala house was designed by manga artist Akira Toriyama in 1984.
