Kōzan-ji金山功山寺

The Kozan-ji Temple, located in Shimonoseki Chofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is a temple of the Soto sect. It was originally established in 1327 as the Chofuku-ji Temple of the Rinzai sect. The Buddha hall, along with the Zenfukuin Shaka-do Hall, embodies the Zen architectural style from the Kamakura period and has been designated a national treasure.

The Buddha Hall is believed to have been built in 1320, as recorded in the pillar's ink book. It houses a statue of the principal deity, Senju Kannon, in a seated position. This hall, dating back to the Kamakura period and characteristic of the Zen sect, holds great historical value and is considered a valuable artifact due to its age of construction.
