Ōno Castle大野城
In the year 1350, Nori Ichishiki, protector of Mikawa Province, expanded his power to the Chita Peninsula. His son, Noriatsu Isshiki, built a castle overlooking Ise Bay and took control of shipping in the area. Over time, the castle changed hands among various clans, including the Saji clan, who ruled the territory for over four hundred years. However, due to poor water management at Ono Castle, the castle became abandoned. Now, the main area is designated as a cultural property (historic site) in Tokoname City and is preserved as Shiroyama Park. The park features the Saji Shrine, which honors the Saji clan, the former lords of the castle. The observation deck of the castle offers breathtaking views of Ise Bay and the foot of Mt. Suzuka.
