Shorinzan Daruma Temple少林山 達磨寺

Shorinzan Daruma Temple is a small temple, constructed in 1697 by the Obaku school of Zen Buddhism. The temple is located in Takasaki, which is considered the birthplace of the Daruma doll, a traditional Japanese doll modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism. The Daruma dolls at Shorinzan are said to be particularly lucky, leading the city's public relations department to nickname Takasaki as "The Lucky Town."
