The Tokushima Castle Museum endeavors to enhance knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of Tokushima City by collecting, preserving, displaying, and researching historical materials related to the Tokushima Domain and the Hachisuka family.

Highlights
The Transition of Domain Administration
The first exhibition room is dedicated to the history of Awa Province, now known as Tokushima, during the Edo period. This corner showcases some of the key highlights, including Japanese folding screens such as the "Sekigahara Battle Picture Folding Screen," which depicts the Battle of Sekigahara, the "Tokugawa Ieyasu's Letter," and the "Tokushima Domain's Country Picture Folding Screen," which displays the rural and urban landscapes of Awa Province during the early Edo period.
The Life and Culture of Daimyo
The second exhibition room, titled "The Life and Culture of Daimyo," showcases the tools and possessions of Daimyo from the former collection of the Hachisuka family, as well as early-modern arts and crafts from Awa. Visitors can view various items on display, including weapons and armor, pottery products, and more.
Tokushima Castle
The third exhibition room is focused on the Tokushima Castle, which was the residence of the Hachisuka family, the rulers of the Tokushima Domain. The centrepiece of the room is a 1/50 scale replica of the "Restored Tokushima Castle Omote Palace." Additionally, the room features photographs and artefacts discovered during the excavation for the museum's construction.
Kuramachi's Life
The fourth exhibition room, titled "Kuramachi's Life," showcases the lifestyle of townspeople during the Edo period by displaying materials from an old private house. The room aims to recreate the atmosphere of the time and features various showcased items, including a large tiled store and related materials from money changers, rice merchants, indigo merchants, and more.
Awa Navy
The fifth exhibition room presents the naval forces of the Tokushima clan. The centerpiece of the room is the "Tokushima Domain Senzan Maru," a whaling ship that has been designated an Important Cultural Property.
