Zuihōden瑞鳳殿

Zuihōden is the mausoleum of Masamune Date, the founder of the Sendai Domain. It is situated across the meandering part of the Hirose River and opposite the Honmaru ruins of Sendai Castle. The original building was destroyed during the World War II, but it was later restored.

There are several shrines in the vicinity of Zuihōden that are related to the Date clan, such as Kansenden, the mausoleum of Date Tadamune (the second daimyō), Zennōden, the mausoleum of Date Tsunamune (the third daimyō), Myōnkaibyō, the mausoleum of Date Chikamune (the ninth daimyō) and of Date Nariyoshi (the eleventh daimyō), and Okosamagobyō, where a number of the children of the Date lords are buried. The entire area is designated as a historic site in Sendai City as "Date Family Cemetery". Additionally, Zuiho-ji Temple is adjacent to the site.
