The Bokushi Suzuki Festival pays tribute to the author of Hokuetsu Seppu and the culture of Snow Country. The festival celebrates the traditional textile industry and snow life culture of the heavy snow area of Shiozawa, as depicted in Bokushi Suzuki's book Hokuetsu Seppu, written during the Edo period.
