Wonder Festivalワンダーフェスティバル

The Wonder Festival, often referred to as Wonfes, is a biannual event that takes place in February and August at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The event is sponsored by the Kaiyodo manufacturing company. Primarily focused on showcasing and selling "garage kits," the event has gained significant popularity in the anime, gaming, and sculpting communities.

Garage kits are intricately detailed sculptures that depict various characters, ranging from anime and video game characters to mecha and sci-fi figures like Kuratas. These sculptures are typically produced by amateurs and enthusiasts, resulting in limited quantities of each piece due to the nature of their craftsmanship. The Wonder Festival serves as a platform for these artisans to display and sell their creations.

One of the highlights of the event is the "wonder showcase" (WSC), which highlights exceptionally skilled artists and their works. These showcased pieces are given special attention, and limited editions of their masterpieces are made available for sale at higher prices, attracting dedicated collectors.

Apart from garage kits, the Wonder Festival also provides a platform for major toy companies to present their upcoming releases, offering attendees a glimpse of what's to come in the world of collectibles.

Overall, the Wonder Festival is a significant event for enthusiasts of anime, gaming, sculpting, and collectibles. It creates an environment for artists to display their talent, offers collectors the chance to acquire unique and rare pieces, and serves as a preview of future releases from established toy companies.
