Yamashiro Onsen山代温泉
In the past, towns formed around public baths that used hot springs. Hot spring inns lined the streets surrounding the public bath and visitors seeking the healing properties of the hot springs would visit the bath and take walks in nature during their extended stays in the town. These public baths were referred to as "soyu" and the town area developed around it in the Hokuriku region was known as "yunogawa". Even today, the traditional hot spring culture and atmosphere still exists in Yamashiro Onsen.
