Owara Kaze no Bon (Harvest Wind Festival)おわら風の盆

The Owara Kaze no Bon festival is a nationally renowned event that has been taking place for approximately 300 years in Yatsuo. The traditional folk dance, passed down for generations in the historic town, is performed to the melody of the "Ecchu Owarabushi." Yatsuo features two types of dances: the "Kyu odori," a traditional dance, and the "Shin odori," a newer dance introduced in 1929. The newer dance includes "Otoko odori" for men, depicting traditional farming, and "Onna odori" for women, incorporating elegant movements from Japanese classical dance. The performance combines high-pitched vocals, the shamisen, and the melancholic sound of the kokyu, creating a captivating folk dance experience.
