Akita Senshū Museum of Art秋田市立千秋美術館
The Akita City Senshu Museum of Art, which opened in 1989, is located inside the Akita Sogo Seikatsu Bunka Kaikan and Art Museum, also known as Atrion. This museum has a rich history, as it was preceded by the Akita City Museum of Art, established in 1958, that was well-known among art enthusiasts as a reputable art museum in the city.
The museum boasts a collection of works by local Akita Ranga artists such as Akebono Satake and Naotake Odano, as well as artists with a connection to Akita such as Hoan Hirafuku, Hyakuho, Kogyo Terasaki, and Ihei Kimura. Additionally, the Kenzo Okada Memorial Hall is also a permanent feature of the museum, displaying the acclaimed works of Western-style painter Kenzo Okada, who received recognition in New York and internationally.
