Kazue-machi Chaya District主計町茶屋街

Kazue-machi is one of the three geisha districts in Kanazawa, situated between Asanogawa Ohashi Bridge and Naka-no Hashi Bridge along the river. The area still maintains many chaya houses and restaurants, and visitors may hear the sound of the shamisen in the evening. When you stroll around the district, you will encounter picturesque and traditional Japanese scenes such as the view from Asanogawa Ohashi Bridge, the rows of chaya houses in Kazue-machi, Naka-no Hashi Bridge, and Kuragarizaka, a steep slope that leads to Owari-cho hill area. The historical rows of this teahouse town were designated as Japan's cultural assets in 2008.

The Kanazawa City Tourism Association organizes geisha performances in the three geisha districts of the city on certain Saturdays, so ensure to schedule your visit accordingly.
